out. At Podere Monti, every room is a story. The furnishings
and decorations have been carefully chosed to give
each room its own, unique character. The rooms are
named for different artists who contributed
to the rich cultural heritage of Montepulciano. Their
works can be seen in the pictures hung on the walls
of the room bearing their name. All the beds are superior
king-size, with bedsteads of handcrafted metal. The
traditional ceilings of brick and wood beams have
been preserved and the floors are of wood planks.
Antique sofas are covered in rich, luminous fabrics,
and natural linens create a wonderful play of light
with the warm Tuscan sun. Each room has its own bathroom
and these are an intriguing blend of the old and the
new; modern washbasins rest on 19th century mangers
and liberty-style lamps illuminate the floors of Etruscan
clay tile. “Of all wines, Montepulciano is King,”
wrote Francesco Redi. Guests have the opportunity
to confirm the truth of this as each room is paired
with a different winery and they can sample the renowned
wines of the region from their own wine cellar. Breakfast
is served in the bright and attractive dining room
with its original Roman stone floor,
discovered during the restoration of the farmhouse.
The owner serves breakfast personally,
introducing you to the flavours of the region with
homemade tarts, bread and preserves that are of the
finest organic ingredients, some of them produced
on the estate itself. At Podere Monti only breakfast
is served unless special requests are made in advance
for other meals. However, there are many good pubs
and fine restaurants in the area and we would be delighted
to advise you in your choice. Should you wish to have
other meals prepared for you, our Italian-French
chef, Maurizio, offers you a range of dishes from
traditional Tuscan cuisine to new and innovative approaches
to gastronomic interpretation. The delightful
pool with hydromassage jets is surrounded by flowers
and olive trees and is the ideal spot for those who
wish to relax in an intimate atmosphere that is typically
tuscan. The beauty of the farmhouse, the quality of
the furnishings, the warmth and hospitality of the
owners and the tranquillity of the surroundings combine
to make Podere Monti an exceptional “agriturismo”
